New to Pickleball? Here's How It Works
Pickleball is a fast-paced, easy-to-learn sport that’s perfect for all ages and fitness levels. While individual games usually last between 10 to 20 minutes, most players enjoy recreational sessions that run for up to 2 hours - full of fun, friendly competition, and plenty of laughs.
🏓 Game Basics:
-
Serve to Start
The game begins with an underhand serve across the net, diagonally into the opponent’s service court.
-
Double Bounce Rule
The ball must bounce once on each side before volleys (hitting the ball in the air) can begin.
-
Net Play
Players rally back and forth, mixing up fast volleys and soft drop shots—especially near the non-volley zone (a.k.a. "the kitchen").
-
Scoring
Only the serving team can score points. If the receiving team wins the rally, they gain the serve.
-
Winning the Game
Games are typically played to 11 points, but you must win by at least 2.
